On July 29, 1986, I became a big sister.  It has been a pretty important role in my life that I take very seriously.  Okay, maybe not always that seriously.  😉  When Colleen was very little, I used to treat her like she was my little baby doll.  Throughout our lives, I have made an effort to teach her things I have learned from my own experiences or mistakes.  I guess that is just the role of a big sister.  But as she has gotten older, I have realized that she really doesn’t need  my help.  She is and has always been a very smart chick who makes pretty fantastic decisions all on her own.  I really like to brag about how fancy she is (I think I get it from my Dad) but I know she doesn’t really like it and don’t want to embarrass her on her birthday.  So I will refrain from telling you guys about how she is an environmental engineer in her day job and works hard to make sure we all have safe and clean water to drink.  I definitely won’t tell you how she graduated from undergrad as one of the valedictorians from her entire class at NC State.  No I surely won’t tell you about that.  I could keep going with not telling you things but I don’t want any of you to toss your cookies.  Cookies are delicious and I would hate to deprive you of them.  Needless to say, she is doing perfectly fine on her own.  However, I think that no matter how old or fancy she gets, when I think of my Bean, she will always look like this…
Happy Birthday to my perfectly wonderful little sister. Â I am so proud to be your big sister and thankful for all of the things that you ended up teaching me. Â Love you!!!
