Fall

Movies For Autumn

And so it always happens around this time of year that staying home and cozying up with a throw and a movie starts to sound like a more excellent choice of activity.  It is not even that the weather has gotten much cooler (although this week had a day that would border on brisk) but more about the anticipation of what is to come.  Here are some of my favorite movies that aren’t Harry Potter to watch in the fall.  I also made a conscious effort not to include any Halloweeny movies in this.  Strictly movies that to me feel like fall.

When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, Stepmom, and Runaway Bride can all really be grouped into the same category which is feel good chick flicks with awesome sets and settings that at some point include the fall.

Dead Poet’s Society is a beautiful Robin Williams movie set on a highly attractive college campus.

Mermaids is a movie I watched on tv recently which I hadn’t seen in years and I really enjoyed it.  Parts of the movie occur in the fall and it is just the kind of movie that feels fally in general.

The Village is a movie that some people don’t like because it is one of those weird M Night Shyamalan movies but I have always enjoyed it and honestly been a touch scared by it.

The Cider House Rules.  I need to re watch this because it has been years.  Just watch it for the movie score if nothing else.  “Good night you princes of Maine, you kings of New England.”

What are some movies you want to cozy up to this fall?

Ahhhh, fall! I love the crisp air, apples, cuddles with my Gus Gus and pretty much any movie (or SVU marathon). This is was NC is such a great state. Just when we start to get tired of the weather, a new season comes around and sweeps us off our feet.

I really love Pride and Prejudice for fall (the newer Keira Knightley version). There is just something about the fog that pervades most of the movie that feels like autumn for me. You can really imagine wrapping up in a flannel throw and feeling that fog just swallow you up inside of it.

Yes!! Love that one. Perfect for fall
