I realize I have been a little quiet about my house recently. That is because of two reasons. One is that my work is making me real tired. I don’t typically like to complain on here, but this month has been so draining that I barely feel like a person. Luckily Meg has been taking up the slack and blogging like a madwoman. Two, I actually have been doing lots of little house things behind the scenes but none of them seem to want to be completed. Remember when I asked you guys about light fixtures? Well I’ve actually bought two for the kitchen, one for the dining room, and one for the downstairs bath. But they are on backorder forever so my purchases have not brought me instant gratification like I like them to. Bastards. Â Or in the family/dining rooms, my mom has made me these beautiful curtains that we wanted to put up this weekend. Â So I purchased 4 curtain rods from West Elm in plenty of time. Â Problem was that instead of sending me all four curtain rods, they decided to send two curtain rods and two lamps from Pottery Barn Teen (?!?). Â Yah, I was confused too. Â Luckily their customer service was pretty nice and sent two replacement rods. Â But then I realized that one of them didn’t have all the hardware included. Â So we installed curtains on three windows and they look lovely. Â The fourth window is still naked as a jay bird. Â Do people still say that?
One project that is actually completed is new bookcases for the living room. Â Courtesy of Ikea. Â I was originally going to spray paint these gold like the many Ikea hacks that I’ve pinned, but I think I actually like them black. Â It’s a nice contrast I think. Â Thoughts? Â I’m kind of considering white now that I’m looking at the picture though. Â Lord knows I can’t make up my mind. Â I’m still looking around for fun accents and bookends to style them up more, but I’m actually quite pleased with how they look now considering I just used some stuff from around the house. Â I’m also still pondering some new pillows for the sofa because those damask puppies have got to hit the bricks.
Here are some things I’m going to try to incorporate based on bookshelf inspiration from around the interwebs.
Looks awesome…….the book selection sure isn’t bad either.
I would keep them black until you are looking for a change of scenery! They look great and I especially love your book arrangements.
I like them black too. Looks great! Can’t wait to see the curtains!i like the owl also. 🙂 🙂
