There is really no question that big cities such as New York, LA, and Chicago have quite alot to offer an individual in the way of weekend activities.  And Charlotte, being a smaller city in comparison to the world of cities, has maybe not quite as many exciting events and opportunities of fanciness.  But one thing Charlotte does have (very close by) that other cities do not is a little old lake called Lake Lure.  That my friends, for anyone who is not aware, just so happens to be the location where one of the greatest movies of our time is filmed…Dirty Dancing.  Yes, you heard me right.  So this weekend I will be blissfully walking along the same trail that Baby carried her first watermelon.  I am attending the wedding of an old and dear friend and I have a feeling that by the time I come home, people will be referring to me as Twinkletoes.  Surely just being on location will turn me into a lovely (and maybe dirty?) dancer.

Maybe if I have some spare time I can also scoot up to Chimney Rock which is a few minutes away and get my Mohican on since that is where The Last of the Mohicans was filmed.  We really just like to reference that movie whenever possible.  I often wonder if in our last lives Colleen and I were actually Mohicans.  Check out this post with pretty pictures that Colleen took of that area.
