Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that new adaptation of the Great Gatsby is coming out in theaters this weekend. Â Meg and I have been ready for this for awhile, seeing as how we did this Gatsby wedding post about 50 years ago. Â I have to admit that I’m still a little nervous because Baz Luhrmann is not my favorite director. Â He gets real Bazzy sometimes, which is a word that I think can most efficiently be described as feeling like you took drugs right before you started watching the movie. Â Romeo and Juliet? Â Loved. Â Moulin Rouge? Â Wanted to throw things I hate it so much (although I’m sure a lot of you loved it). Â Anywho, I am excited nonetheless, and all these trailers that show Carrie Mulligan looking like a goddess have gotten me to thinking about why it is that we dress so lame these days. Â We don’t wear sparkly dresses or ridiculously great headpieces unless it is our wedding, but Daisy got to wear them all the time. Â Here are some dresses I would definitely be wearing if I was going to one of Gatsby’s parties. Â Maybe I would even have a costume change situation. Â And that gold headpiece is absolutely a necessity.

Love Baz, can’t wait, need 3, 4, and 5 immediately. Pretty collage.
I love number 1. Sadly it’s a tad over my budget. I wonder if Mom could make a dress that looks like that one???
Love me some Baz. His movies are so visually stunning and a blast to watch. Loved both Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge. I did not see Australia though and did not want to. I absolutely cannot wait to see Gatsby.
I love all the dresses, especially number 2. I am so super excited about this movie it is ridiculous. The soundtrack is awesome.. and one of my most favorite books. I love F. Scott Fitzgerald.
