Hi my friends. Â It’s Friday so I thought we should all celebrate by hearing some happy things. Â First off, I have a little story to share from my ridiculous life of animal rescues. Â I apologize in advance because I know it’s a little rambly. Â Yesterday, I was out running and came across an injured bird (this is not the happy part of the story). Â If you really must know, I actually left my house looking to find an injured bunny that someone posted about on my neighborhood facebook page. Â Turns out that good citizen had taken the bunny to the vet. Â So I didn’t find it cause it wasn’t there anymore. Â I realize I am getting off topic but it is important that you all understand that I was in animal rescue mode. Â So when I came upon the poor little bird, I was all ready and raring to go. Â First I coaxed it off the sidewalk so it wouldn’t get eaten by a dog. Â But it wouldn’t move away from this concrete wall. Â Then I ran home and grabbed a few little towels and a shoebox with holes. Â My thought was I could bring it back to my house where it could recover in the safety of my fenced in back yard. Â When it got back that little guy was still there right next to the wall. Â Refusing to move. Â So I used the towel and picked him up and put him in the box and gently closed it and walked him quietly home. Â Excellent. Â Now what? Â I laid the box in my backyard and opened it so he could see the things and then obvs started to google “found injured bird” and “took home injured bird.” Â Basically the first link that came up in the search engine was all “How to tell the difference between an injured bird and a baby bird.” Â Hmm. Â I started to develop some mild concern. Â Then I went to the images and I unhappily discovered that my injured bird actually looked quite a bit like a baby bird that I most likely stole from its mother who as I now recall very may well have been near by it. Â Squawk. Â So then my boyfriend called and I was basically hoping he would tell me that I did the right thing and that it was probably an injured bird and I sent him a picture. Â And he was like nope. Â Mega crap. Â Then I started to feel a little panicky and sad and guilty that I most likely just caused a baby bird’s untimely death by taking it from its mother. Â That’s what I get for trying to be a do-gooder. Â Despite some mixed information on google, I determined the best course of action was to march it back to its momma straight away and put it in a safe spot until she found it. Â So I took it back to the house where I found it and placed it on the front porch and opened the box so its momma could have full access. Â Then I decide I better tell the family that lives at the house that I am leaving a bird filled shoe box on their porch and could I put it in that nice snake free corner over there please and thank you. Â The man who came to the door was quite unhelpful and told me that would be bad because they have a dog. Â So I tried to be polite but most likely was unable to hide my side eye expression at what an ass he was that he couldn’t keep his dog off the front porch for like a few hours so my baby bird had a chance to live a full and happy life and find his momma like in the storybooks. Â So while I was talking to that buffoon, I start to hear my baby bird chirping. Â Which was totally weird cause he hadn’t made a peep before. Â And then I start to hear another bird chirping in response. Â And then that momma bird just swooped right down from the tree and put a little worm right in my baby bird’s mouth as he sat in his shoe box. Â I kid you not. Â He hopped right out and she swooped back down again and helped him hop over into some brush. Â All while me and Mr. Britches in a Wad stood not 5 feet away. Â I was so happy I nearly did a jig and kissed that man. Â He obviously thought I was a total spaz. Â But the momma came back for her baby!!! Â And I didn’t needlessly kill it. Â Oh happy day!!! Â All is right with the world again.

Here he is. Â No one needs to point out how obvious it is that he is a baby. Â I already feel enough like an idiot. Â Believe me.
In other happy news, our buddy Lindsey Regan Thorne, who if you didn’t already know is an amazing makeup, hair, and wardrobe stylist in the Charlotte area, is so fancy that she was hired by Emily Maynard to do her hair and makeup for her wedding which will be featured in People magazine this week. Â If that isn’t exciting, then I just don’t know what is.
If you guys are getting married or just need your hair and/or makeup done or need help working out your wardrobe situation, then you really need to hire her. Â She is obviously the best.
And to end with, here is a little clip of Juicy enjoying the shoebox that I suspect still smelled like the baby bird. Â Apparently it was intoxicating.

God and his Angels knew you were trying to do good! By the way birds are notorious for having bugs so since Juice was rolling on the towels probably trying to get the bird smell on him – you might do a run thru on his cute little body! Hahaha. Guess the kitties aren’t so different from our dogs rolling in smells
I enjoyed your adventure!!!
OMG — I LOVE YOU LADIES! Thank you so much for the sweet shout out. I’m sorry that I’m just now seeing this. I was on the road on Friday (wedding 4.5 hours away) and got terrible reception. I can’t thank you enough for the sweet words. 🙂 Loving your little birdies! xoxo
A happy ending indeed!
You always manage to make me giggle with your stories. What a kind little heart you have. I have much love for the animals but as you know I am very scared of the birds. You are good people. Also, that video of Juice is so funny.
