I have been putting off even thinking about our bedroom for a while because a) it is a huge room and was daunting and 2) it is a huge room and I didn’t want to have to paint it. Â The whole thing seemed real bad. Â So obviously the intelligent thing to do was decide to pick the first weekend after a long vacation in which I was basically still jet lagged and also about to have a yard sale to start painting. Â Seems reasonable enough. Â Luckily my mom and Corey are like painting machines so we got the whole thing done in just a couple of days of work. Â We painted it a crisp (but not sterile) white – Benjamin Moore Simply White – the basis for an airy and calm bedroom, just like my inspiration images.

Ah yes, dreamy, simple, clean. Â Probably a bad idea because I will be even less likely to get up on time for work. Â Below was the bedroom when we first toured the house, with the bed in the same location as ours was for the first year. Â You can’t tell very well in this picture, but it is a crazy long room, so it definitely needs to be broken up into sections. Â The problem is figuring out how to make the sections. Â I was starting to hate having the bed smack dab in the middle of the room, leaving the side closest to the window for us to throw our clothes all over the place, and the side closest to the doorway for randomly placed furniture. Â And don’t even get me started on the hideous torn up couch that was in our nook off to the left. Â That thing was a nuisance to the world. Â Thank god some lovely people took it off of our hands when we put it outside our house after our yard sale. Â We were willing to pay them but they took it for free :).
The picture below is what we are working with after painting the room white. Â I like having the bed on the other side of the room, but I’m not sure if it should be up against the window or up against the right wall. Â The side closer to the camera will be a sitting area situation I think. Â So basically our bedroom will have enough sitting areas for you and all of your cats, so come on over. Â Obviously I haven’t done anything with the nook yet, but I think I’m going to have to switch from the original color scheme to something more cohesive with the rest of the room.
So I’m thinking a lot of whites and neutrals, obviously. Â Our bedroom is on the front of the house so if we don’t want all the neighbors to see us getting dressed then we have to keep the blinds down and block out all of the light which is a major bummer. Â I figured out that there is a thing called top down/bottom up roman shades and have decided that a DIY might be in order. Â That way only the bottom part of the windows will be covered and the top will still let in light. Â And as always, there will be stripes. Â Because I am predictable.
The white looks great. Nice and clean. You have ALL the dressers. Also prepare for me to be jealous of your settee and coffee table situation. I have always loved that coffee table.
It really looks good!! Can’t wait to see it all finished
